Looking At Spiritual Alchemy In History And In Practice

By Amanda Baird

In the far distant past when people used the word alchemists they were often speaking of a group of people that were interested in making gold from lead or mercury. To date these experiments have proved unsuccessful. Spiritual alchemy on the other hand concerned itself with the idea of manifesting those physical and spiritual things in peoples life that they desire the most. In other words they draw them into being through thought and draw them to manifest in their life.

Modern scientists often look to these ideas with mistrust or disdain. They generally feel that if you cannot measure it then it is not real. An exception to this rule is the common placebo effect. This is when people taking medicine to get better because they start believing they will become better. This is one of the many ways people practice this idea every day. However it can go much deeper than this.

Sometimes people have difficulties feeling thankful for the different things which have happened within their lives which molds them over time creating who they are. They can be bad, good or seemingly meaningless experiences. The idea is that they are alive and have lived. Everybody should try to take time to thank what ever higher power they observe for this divine gift.

Many people also have difficulties forgiving themselves. Everyone makes mistakes, it is all part of the growing process. Negative thoughts and ideas are passed to God the same as positive ones. It is only through living and making mistakes that people can learn and become better beings.

Generally subconscious blocks that have been in place since childhood act to negatively affect people. The only way to overcome these stops is to realize them for what they are, self made limits. These are limits everyone has from one degree to another. Positive thinking and reinforcing positive traits in yourself help diminish these.

Sadly fear is one of the things all people have more of than they need. It is a simple trait that connects everyone together. Faith is the cure to fear. Faith in themselves, their friends, the world sometimes even God. Having the faith and patience to believe that your thoughts will manifest is difficult but a core part of a spiritual alchemist's strength.

Learning to visualize what you really need vs what you want is another of the keystones to the success of a spiritual alchemist. Learning to see something in its wholeness in your mind and manifesting it in your life is difficult at best. It is a different process for every person. Basically see it in your life and make it real.

Among the best ways to perfect spiritual alchemy is by creating a flowchart. Draw a simple chart out to show you the things you want to turn real. As things turn real, move one step at a time. Remember this is a procedure and often will take time. Have faith and patients. Do not forget to rejoice for the many good things you already have.
