A Look At Natural Head Lice Treatment

By Miranda Sweeney

If parents have discovered that one of the kids in the household has head lice, they should not panic. There are a number of things that they can do to remedy the situation. With an attention to detail and an effective natural head lice treatment plan, all should be well in the end. The infestations can soon be eliminated without any damage to the well-being of the children.

Infestations can occur in several different ways. In most instances, the children will have picked up the parasite from someone at school. Light infestations of only a few egg masses can be attacked aggressively and eradicated within a few days. Heavier infestations will usually take a few weeks to completely get rid of without any outstanding problems.

Combs can come in quite handy. They can be slowly run through the hair so that the masses of eggs can be removed without damaging the head. Some of the adult lice can also be gotten rid of in this way. As long as the comb has very fine teeth, it should work. Combs should be washed in hot water and plenty of soap after each episode has been completed.

Olive oil is another ingredient that will be effective against these critters. In fact, most homeowners will have the oil sitting in the pantry waiting to be used. A few tablespoons of the oil can be sprinkled onto the head and then massaged into the scalp. The product will form a barrier around the eggs so that the critters inside do not have a chance to hatch.

Mouthwash has also proven to be effective. Mouthwash can be added to the hair and then rubbed in. Mouthwash is effective at killing the bacteria in the mouth because it uses an alcohol base. This alcohol is the same ingredient that is so effective against parasites. The critters will be smothered and the entire head will be clear in no time at all. Mouthwash can be found at most convenience stores for reasonable prices.

Parents will want to monitor the condition of their kids so that they can ensure that the condition is improving somewhat. If it appears that one technique is not working, they can simply move on to a another method. Finding a good technique might take a few tries, but it will be well worth the extra effort for all involved.

The goal, of course, will be to get the kids back in school as soon as possible. In fact, many schools will not allow the children to return until the parasites have been wholly eliminated. This is done as a courtesy to the other students. This way, the other students will not have to deal with the condition in the weeks down the road.

In the end, finding a good plan of action does not have to be difficult. By using organic methods, people can get rid of the lice in a stern manner. A variety of household products can be brought to bear on the situation. The children themselves will appreciate the effort and will soon be free of the condition.
