By Edith Hume

Our bodies can be prone to infection from the outside. This is especially true if our body has been weakened by antibiotics wherein the healthy bacteria in our skins are affected and the growth of yeast grows out of control. Fungus infections can be treated naturally, and tea tree oil for candida control is recommended.

Candida is the general form or name for many types of fungus growth and irritations. The many types of candida are infections such as yeast infections, jock itch, itchy rashes, thrush and nail infections. Plenty of antibacterial and topical creams are available in the pharmacies today, but there is also an alternative and greener approach. The active ingredients in tea tree oil have anti-fungal and anti-viral elements which make it a good candidate.

Athletes foot is a very common form of fungus that affects all of us. We can get it from having moist feet all the time and especially when we are in tropical conditions. One can put the oil on some cotton which you can use to dab the affected area once to thrice daily. Also massaging your feet daily with the oil will help reduce the incidence of it happening again.

Women who suffer from vaginal yeast infection can also have some relief through the use of the oil. The oil can be mixed in one part solution with twenty parts of water. A tampon is dampened with the solution, which is then worn overnight. The procedure is repeated daily until symptoms subside.

Another form of candida, which is quite difficult to treat, is nail fungus. For milder cases, applying oil to the affected areas three to four times daily can treat this. This is effective especially when applied around the cuticle area and places under the nails.

Some nail infections can be quite stubborn however, and you may need to do a nail soak instead. A nail soak solution can be created my mixing one part of oil to five parts of water. Soak the infected nails in the solution for up to ten minutes each day and use a clean and dry towel to dry them off afterwards.

Apart from benefits of using it to treat infections, using tea tree oil for candida has some hidden benefits as well. As it is much cheaper than industrial creams and the like you can save a few pennies as a bottle of the stuff can go quite a long way and it has no expiry date. It will also save you some dollars in terms of consultation fees for problems that are easily treatable.
