Marijuana or also known as cannabis, has been illegal in this state for the longest time but this bill aims to make cannabis legal as long as it is for medicinal purposes.
Now the man behind the bill is the state representative Sherry Jones. Now he noticed that marijuana or cannabis is actually beneficial to those who have conditions that would cause them some pain. Cannabis can actually be used as an alternative to drugs or regular pain killers as the side effects are not as bad as the conventional drugs.
Now most people do not really understand that marijuana can be used as more than just a substance that would make people high. The biggest misconception of this drug is that only drug addicts would consume it so that can feel that high that would not make them think properly. What many do not understand is that if used properly, it can be used as painkillers.
Now if this bill becomes a law, then those who are suffering from fatal diseases or illnesses will be able to use it as a cure. Now the main condition that one would have to fulfill before using it would be to get a prescription from a doctor first. After that, he must get this prescription approved by the state health department.
Of course there are some conditions before one can be able to use this drug legally. One of the conditions is that he must not have a criminal record or a record of drug abuse. If the authorities would find out that he has either one of the two, then he will be banned from using the drug even if it is for medicinal purposes.
Of course when it comes to where he uses the drug, there are a few restrictions that users must follow. First, he is not allowed to use it in public transportation like buses or trains or anywhere near school areas. Also, he cannot use it in places where there is a huge volume of people that may be affected by the smoke.
Now the name of this bill is known as the Koozer Kuhn Medical Cannabis act. The name of the bill came from the name of a young girl named Piper Koozer who had a certain seizure disorder. Her parents were able to improve her condition by giving her an oil that actually had some parts of the marijuana plant.
Now mister Jones has actually been trying to pass this bill for about a year already but failed. The first time he tried to pass the bill, it was flat out rejected by a unanimous decision. However, due to the people becoming more involved with state politics and many supporters of this bill, it might actually be approved this time.
