Reiki Classes Teach Healing Process

By Beverly C. Ralph

Holistic healing techniques are becoming a popular choice for many people who wish to break free of the pharmaceutical quagmire as much as possible. The chance to have their issues corrected or alleviated without the side effects of prescription drugs is an attractive option. By taking Reiki classes, a dedicated individual could learn the method and administer the treatment for others in their local area.

The human energy force, which is essential to each life, is the core of this practice. It flows like a highway throughout the body, passing through spiritual centers called chakras that influence various aspects of health and emotional wellness. When all is positive, a person usually feels well, but when the points become clouded, problems and negativity may occur.

Using their hands, practitioners of this technique are able to channel their client's energy and direct it as needed to attend certain issues. They can even share some of their personal spirit force with the patient and clear negatively charged chakras with their own positivity. Once this is done, the body typically starts healing naturally.

The completely natural method of energy transference may be useful in treating a variety of conditions. Some emotional issues such as depression, feeling unsettled, stress and anxiety are easily alleviated in this way. It has also shown to be effective in certain cases of physical distress like arthritis, organ problems, pain and digestive issues.

Contrary to what some may think, this is not a religious practice though it is based in spirituality, meaning dealing with the spirit force inside every human. There is no dogma or belief system attached to the technique. It is completely a matter of having the energy within one's body redirected, cleansed or channeled to remove any negativity that may be upsetting the natural process of healing.

Physical contact is not usually necessary. In circumstances when it is, the touches are minimal and used only to directly pinpoint the force at a particular area. The therapist holds their hands just above the body of the client and directs the energy throughout the individual to target the area of concern. As this is not a massage technique, both parties are fully clothed at all times.

Learning the technique is usually done over a concentrated weekend session. The power to channel energies is actually one that is passed from teacher to student through transference. The course is about understanding how to focus oneself and become a clear and unimpeded conduit for moving the force from one individual to another.
