The Need To Consider Natural Alternatives To Prescription Drugs

By Ronald Wilson

For several decades now, our society has been over-possessed with the prescription drugs; it has been seen as the best alternative available. This is however changing quickly, in the last few years, the health professionals through their research and publications have been able to convince the society that there are natural alternatives to prescription drugs that offer patients far much better results.

Today, the debate continues through several medical articles published every month. In these publications, the nutritionists as well as other health professionals argue that in the long run, the body, tends to achieve better recovery with the natural solutions as opposed to the use of laboratory inspired medicines.

To begin with, the lab meds are not wired to conform to the body's chemical system. They tend to alter the body chemical system, and as such, the body responds by resisting the new chemicals introduced to the system. This continues for a while until the body gets used to the drug and the process may be unpleasant in some cases. Consequently, the side effects are common. The common side effects include nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions, pain and general sickness. These are common, particularly when being introduced to a new drug for the first time.

Other than the side effects, the other concerns that have been raised include the tendency of a drug becoming ineffective due to over-reliance. When the system gets used to the drug, it longer responds to it. In addition to this, the disease causing microorganisms such as the bacteria, virus, and other forms of pathogens become deadly when the existing drugs can no longer fight them successfully. This is caused by the tendency of pathogens to change their genetic makeup to become resistant to the drugs.

The other concern is the tendency of the body to resist drugs in the long run. When any drug is used over a long period of time, it eventually becomes ineffective given that the pathogens in the body become resistant to them. At this time, there is a likelihood to over-use drugs, which could be detrimental to essential organs like the lever and the kidney, leading to regrettable results in the long run.

In addition to this, our body gets addicted to the prescribed drugs, and with time, they become ineffective forcing you to try the new drug which may also become ineffective letter on. The problem becomes much worse when some of the medications start destroying the liver. This is common with the elements like acetaminophen that is common with most pain meds.

Back pain, for instance, can be treated with just four chiropractic treatment sessions, and there is overwhelming scientific evidence to support this. The best and least costly method to lower the bad cholesterol in the body for instance is to focus on a diet rich in elements that suppress inflammations. Garlic, oats, olive oil and even red wine for instance, are just a few examples.

Whichever the alternative is better is not a simple question to answer, however, it is best to consider natural alternatives as long as your health condition allows. The prescribed medicines should only come as a last resort. Doctors are in a position to offer better advice by having a closer look at your health condition.
